Dave is a nurse, lecturer and researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University. He has a clinical background in infectious diseases and sexual health, predominantly caring for disenfranchised and marginalised communities. His research interests align to this focus, with a PhD exploring the experience of people living with the blood-borne virus hepatitis C. This led onto broader exploration of how barriers to treatment for this infection could be challenged, broadening access for people who use drugs within primary care. After joining the Substance Use research group at GCU, his research focus broadened further, incorporating non-communicable disease in the form of alcohol-related harms. He works alongside the team at GCU with a specific focus on health inequalities experienced by sexual and gender minorities in relation to alcohol consumption.
