Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) and the Scottish Alcohol Research Network (SARN) invite you to join us online on Tuesday 25 April from 12.45-14.00 BST (UK time) for our first SHAAP/SARN Alcohol Occasionals event of 2023.
High alcohol availability is associated with increased alcohol-related harms. Many countries are committed to reducing alcohol harms and addressing alcohol availability has been identified as the next frontier in this area. Dr Elena Dimova will present findings from a recent qualitative study, which explored key experts’ views in relation to policy priorities and considerations for alcohol availability. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 experts from third sector organisations, government, public health and alcohol licensing. Experts were asked about their views on alcohol availability in Scotland, including its place in the policy landscape, policy considerations in relation to protecting children and experiences in gaining support for policies. This research was undertaken while Dr Dimova was working at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Dr Elena Dimova is a Lecturer in Alcohol & Drug Studies at University of the West of Scotland. She specialises in qualitative research and literature reviews.
